Mashatu Game Reserve

The Mashatu Reserve is part of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, which is located at the confluence of the Limpopo and the Shashe Rivers, in the easternmost corner of Botswana.

Experience the Mashatu Game Reserve with EcoTraining

The area offers expansive views and open regions, crossed regularly by seasonal streams that boast tall leadwood and apple leaf trees, perfect for walking trails.

The riverine woodland along the Limpopo and Shashe rivers abound with giant Sycamore figs and Nyala Trees, and the area is alive with animals large and small. In summer, the air is filled with birdsong, the roar of millions of Red-Billed Quelea in flocks stretching from horizon to horizon, and the smells of thousands of blooms carpeting the grassland. In winter, the triangle of rivers that make up the borders of our concession bring animals from all corners of the Mashatu area to drink in their life-giving waters.

Where is Mashatu Game Reserve located?

In one of Botswana’s unique corners lies the Mashatu Game Reserve.
With access to over 12,000 hectares (29,652 acres) of bushveld, the area close to our camp offers breathtaking views of open country and the crests nearby. The northern part of the reserve borders Zimbabwe on the Tuli Circle, while the southern part connects to South Africa via the Limpopo River. To the west, the Pitsane River, surrounded by leadwood trees, adds to the abundance of wildlife with its year-round pools. And to the east, the vast and leisurely Shashe River acts as our natural border.

Temperatures reach up to 40 degrees Celsius in summertime while going down to temperatures of 8 degrees during wintertime.
