Where is Karongwe Game Reserve located?
The stunning Karongwe Game Reserve is located atop the majestic Drakensberg mountain range in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.

The summer weather at the Karongwe Game Reserve averages a maximum temperature of 40°C between October and March.
In winter, the minimum temperature averages 6°C between April and September.

Wildlife Sightings
There are over 60 different species of mammals and an abundance of birdlife that make for excellent opportunities to capture incredible photos. It’s not uncommon to spot lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as majestic elephants and white rhinos. And with a camp that isn’t fenced, you might even have some unexpected guests like hyenas that drop in for a visit in the evening.
Conservation projects
As a participant in our safari guide training programme, you will have the opportunity to take part in conservation projects such as bush clearing and block burns. This hands-on experience is a valuable part of our programme, as it allows you to make a real difference in the preservation of Africa’s wildlife.
Daily walks & drives
A highlight of your stay will be the daily game walks and game drives that we offer. Led by experienced guides, you will have the chance to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of the African bush up close. With each step, you’ll be amazed by the incredible diversity of wildlife that surrounds you.
Additional activities
Our camp also offers other activities such as volleyball, bush fitness and fully immersive nature experiences in our unfenced camps. With no barriers between you and nature, you’ll feel like you’re truly part of the African wilderness.
Staying at the camp
Tents
The camp consists of 10 walk-in Meru tents.
Bedding
Each tent houses twin beds (students share tents) and supplied bedding (a duvet and one pillow).
Ablutions
There are shared ablution facilities and a central communal area.
Mosquitoes
We have mosquito nets in camp.
What to bring
An additional blanket, an additional pillow, should you require it.
