What to expect from the On-Demand Junior Ranger course
Wild learning adventures for curious young explorers
The On-Demand Junior Ranger Course includes 13 exciting modules designed to introduce children to the wonders of the South African bush. From animal behaviour and bird calls to tracking and biomimicry, each topic is presented through engaging video lessons, colourful visuals, and interactive quizzes like drag-and-drop challenges, sound identification, and crosswords.
Children can learn at their own pace using any smart device with internet access, making it perfect for school holidays, weekends, or after-school enrichment. Each completed module earns a digital badge, while parents receive progress updates via email.
Created by trusted experts in education and conservation
This course is a collaboration between EcoTraining, Africa’s original field guide training provider since 1993, and Uplands College, one of South Africa’s top independent schools. Together, we’ve created a course that’s educational, engaging, and accessible.
Children can also take part in optional Q&A sessions with real EcoTraining instructors, bringing them closer to the world of conservation. Upon completion, learners will receive an official EcoTraining Certificate of Participation and the knowledge to become a young conservation hero.
Certification
Upon successful completion of all 13 modules, your child will receive an official course certificate awarded by EcoTraining in the On-Demand Junior Ranger Course. This certificate recognises their dedication to learning about nature, wildlife, and conservation, and marks an exciting first step in their journey as a young eco-ambassador.

Entry level requirements
- Children must be between the ages of 7 and 14
