Three Years of E-Learning Innovation for EcoTraining

Three Years of E-Learning Innovation

Since 2020, the team at EcoTraining has pushed conservation boundaries and worked diligently to create five courses that have seen physical African bush experiences come alive in a world of online information and learning.

These courses have been globally accessible to anyone with an internet connection. To date, it has given hundreds of students from Mexico to Australia the opportunity to discover the bush, its ecosystems and its animals in a whole new way.

“It has been wonderful to see how students connect with like-minded people worldwide who want to study conservation online. This way of learning may still be a new experience to study conservation, but it is just as packed with adventure, learning, and storytelling,” said EcoTraining Managing Director Anton Lategan.

Sustainable Conservation Efforts

The innovation EcoTraining has displayed over the past three years has greatly expanded the organisation’s responsible and sustainable conservation efforts from South Africa and Africa.

“We are committed to offering the best environmental educational experience to anyone who enrols in our courses – which also counts for our different online conservation courses. All our online sessions are live and very interactive,” said Lategan.

From an Online Course to a Practical Bush Experience

Jared Cave and Nicola Quagliere came from different countries and became friends while on a course with EcoTraining. Both started doing online courses and then decided to gain first-hand experience out in the bush after completing their online learning.

“The whole evolution from the online theory to doing the practical was about extending our knowledge further – getting knowledge on foot. It was simply incredible,” said Cave and Quagliere.

How to Become a Trails Guide?

The elephant bull looks at us. Neither surprised nor scared. But still, he watches every subtle move while we are sitting on the edge of the river bed in the forest, surrounded by ana trees, nyala berries and fever trees. The colours, the sounds and the presence of three gigantic elephants make this feel like a scene from a movie.
